Adopt Unifi Devices Into Unifi Self-Hosted Instance
Using Ubiquiti Device Discovery Tool (Deprecated)

Connect Unifi device to the local network

on a PC or MAC locate the IP address of the Unifi device using the Ubiquiti Device Discovery Tool
Note: You must select "Unifi Family" in order to see Unifi Devices -
Locate the device and select actions then "Set Inform"
for a device on factory settings;
username: ubnt
password: ubnt -
login to your Cloud Portal

Locate the newly informed device and select "Adopt"
The device will not be adopting to your Cloud Portal
Troubleshooting Issues
If your Unifi device does not adopt;
if the router you are connected to is a Unifi console, login to the Unifi console and adopt the Unifi device to the console, once the device has been adopted and updated, forget the device. then follow the above steps again.
Using SSH (Current Method)
- Locate the device via an IP scanner or other method such as Ubiquiti Device Discovery Tool
- Open cmd.exe or other terminal emulator and ssh into the Unifi device with
ssh ubnt@[IP-Address]
using "ubnt" as the username and "ubnt" as the password (If the Unifi device has been adopted previously, the password may not be ubnt, please check with the previous device management for the updated password) - Set the inform URL of the unifi device to allow it to advertise itself for adoption with
set-inform [inform-url]
- Locate the device in your unifi self-hosted instance
